Letter, United States Military Academy, 16 October to Mrs. Emma Willard from Lt. Thomas S. Twiss discusses Cadet John H. Willard's previous reluctance to stay at West Point, but expresses the belief that all will be well as Twiss has taken John into his care. Twiss also describes his position as instructor of natural philosophy at the Academy; letter, Sparta [Ga.], Oct. 11th, 1828 from Elizabeth and Thomas Twiss to Elizabeth's mother, Mrs. Emma Willard, telling of Elizabeth's teaching position and Thomas' unhappiness at the prospect of being separated from Elizabeth. Family and mutual friends are also discussed.
